Heater does its job keeping my tropical plants warm on these extremely cold nights.

I bought this heater in 2025 for use in my 16' x 20' (11' ceiling) cactus propagation greenhouse in central Texas. I'm growing cold-hardy varieties for the most part, but wanted something to keep the temp up on our occasional hard freezes. I think it did this well, and I was able to keep the temp about 5-10 degrees F above the outside temp. It is rated to put out about 20,000 BTUs and I'm not sure what that is supposed to feel like, but it does put out a good amount of heat. My greenhouse is a hoophouse with only a single layer of 10 mil plastic, which offers no insulation. If I had double walls I think this heater would have kept it well above freezing in there. My only wish is that the knob used for automatic heating had markings to indicate the temp that it would come on at. This left me guessing a bit, but since I was using it during harsh freeze events only (2-3 per year here) I don't care as much. Someone trying to lock in a specific temperature for a longer period of time may have to experiment with it a bit. In short: a good heater, but use several online calculators to get a sense as to wether this is really strong enough for your needs.

I’ve purchased a few of these from ACF over the years. They work great. Expect a 3 - 4 year life expectancy with year round usage (I keep the heater on auto during warmer months to help reduce humidity and mildew especially in the mornings). It’s a solid purchase for the price.

I am growing tropical plants in US Zone 8 in my greenhouse. I bought this heater to keep my greenhouse above 60F. It works beautifully. Very pleased with this heater.

This heater works well in a 10’ x 13’ greenhouse. It can get temps to 85 degrees for seed germination, even with outside temps near freezing.

I can only give it 4 stars because I haven’t owned it long enough to know how durable it will be.

Durable, well made seeming heater. Looking forward to trying it out this Winter. Ran a dedicated circuit for it to the greenhouse. Warms up quick! Very pleased with it so far.
